A lot of everyday things in China run through apps, from payments and maps to transport, food delivery, restaurant bookings, translation, and messaging. The good news is you don’t need a different app for every single thing.
If you’re visiting China, Alipay is the one app we recommend setting up before you arrive. You can use it to pay, book rides, order food, use public transport, and access a lot of other services.
Many of these services run through mini-programs, which are basically small apps inside Alipay or WeChat, so you don’t need to download everything separately.
Alipay is also easy for foreigners to use, with English support and built-in translation. You’ll probably end up using it every day.
